Becoming an Auxiliarist is a rewarding way to serve your community and nation. Members come from all walks of life, united by their dedication to boating safety and maritime service.

Eligibility Requirements

You Don't Need a Boat!

While some members use personal vessels for patrols, boat ownership is NOT required. Many Auxiliarists serve in public education, administrative support, communications, and other roles that don't require a boat.

How to Join

  1. Find a Flotilla: Use the flotilla finder at cgaux.org to locate units near you
  2. Attend a Meeting: Visit local flotilla meetings to learn more
  3. Complete Application: Submit application form 7028
  4. Background Check: Pass required background investigation
  5. Take Oath: Pledge to uphold Auxiliary values
  6. Begin Training: Complete new member orientation

Member Benefits

Time Commitment

Members set their own pace. Some volunteer a few hours monthly; others contribute significantly more. The Auxiliary values every contribution, whether large or small.
